Common Questions About Buying & Selling from Coastal Pawn

Question: What happens if I can’t repay my pawn loan in 30 days?

Answer:  If you do not intend to repay the loan, we will put your item out for sale after the 30 day period and you owe us nothing. If you would like to keep your merchandise, you can pay the interest and extend your loan for another 30 day period.

Question: Is my pawn loan confidential?

Answer:  Yes.  We are required by Federal, State and the local law to keep our customers information private.

Question: Can I pawn my car title?

Answer:  Yes.  You must have a clear Georgia or Florida car title, full coverage insurance and proof of residence and proof of income.  We accept current utility bills and pay check stubs as proof.  We prefer an extra set of keys be provided.  Certain restrictions apply when using your car title for a loan.

Question: Who can pick up my pawned item?

Answer:  Only the person on the pawn ticket may pick up the item. Additional persons may be added to your loan, but this must be done in person and the individual(s) must have a valid ID.  You will not be able to add another person to your account over the phone.

Question:  What do I do if I lose my pawn ticket?

Answer:  You can pick up your item with your government-issued picture ID.

Question:  What if I already have a loan with you.  Can I get another?

Answer:  You may have multiple loans and you are able to borrow money even if you have not repaid an existing loan.

Question:  How do you determine the value of my item?

Answer:  Our employees have years of experience determining the pawn value of a wide variety of merchandise and our goal is provide you the loan you need.  We offer top dollar for your items.

Question:  What if I have something to pawn that is worth more than I need for a loan?

Answer:  You can take as much of the value on the item as you need.  If we offer you $200 on an item, and you only need $100, you can choose to take as much as you want up to that $200 - now or up to 1 week later.  If you take $100 now, but decide that you need more money, you can come back and take the rest of the value for the item within a week of the original pawn date.

Question:  If I pawn an item, is there a guarantee I will be able to get it back when I repay my pawn loan?

Answer:  Yes. We are required by law to responsibly care for your items while we have them.  If your item is somehow lost or damaged while in our care, we will repair or replace the item as soon as possible with no cost to you. You would only owe for the pawn loan itself.

Question:  Is there anything I need to know regarding pawn or purchase or firearms?

Answer:  Yes.  We do pawn loans and purchases of rifles, shotguns, revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.  For purchase of a firearm, we conduct a NICS Federal Background Check.  This usually takes approximately 30 minutes. If you wish to pawn a weapon, we may buy the firearm outright.  If you wish to use the item for a pawn loan, we can run a background check when you pawn your weapon so that you will be able to have the item to be returned to you at the end of the loan.  No one else can pick up a pawned firearm except the person listed on the pawn ticket.  All used firearms come with a seven (7) day warranty.  This warranty does not cover abuse, misuse or repairs. If the gun does not function to your satisfaction, return it within the seven (7) days. If the firearm is defective, we will exchange it for the same weapon or assist to send it for repair. If you are unhappy with your purchase, we will buy it back for normal used pawn value.

Question:  What is the difference between the appraised value of my item and what the pawn value is?

Answer:  A pawn loan is based on current value and market condition for reselling the item.  An "appraisal" is based on retail cost or the cost to replace the item and appraisals are generally used for insurance purposes, not for loans.

Question: How can I be sure what I am buying isn't stolen?

Answer:  Pawnshops cooperate with police to prevent the sale of stolen merchandise. When an item is pawned, all items are inspected for signs of theft.  Any items that are damaged or missing a serial number, will not be accepted.  All items we receive are reported to the Camden County Sheriff's Office.  They compare this information with stolen merchandise reports.  Anyone attempting to pawn a stolen item to us will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
